It seems like a long time ago that I hit the ‘Join’ button on the Three percenter page. I remember waiting a long time and one day, I was accepted into the group. That was it. I was a Threeper! I went on like that for some time until one day, I saw a Zone Meeting being held. It turned out, I was off work that day. It was a bit of a drive down to the Dayton area (Miami Valley Shooting Grounds), but I made the drive. That was the day my whole opinion of this group changed. There weren’t many of us there that day, I think only 7 people showed up, but I met some INCREDIBLE INDIVIDUALS!!! From that moment, I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. Not long after that, I heard
about the State FTX. I made myself available for that weekend and was hoping for more of the experience I got from my first meetings. That weekend came and I went down to central Ohio with my brand new tent and gear (I hadn’t been camping since I was a child). It was a rainy, muddy, cold, mess of a first day. BUT, I was there with a small group of people who, once again, were unlike anyone I had ever met. There we stood in the rain and cold. We sat around the campfire together and talked. We talked about things I had never felt comfortable talking to others about. We laughed and had a GREAT TIME in spite of all that Mother Nature could throw at us. My bond to the Group grew even stronger!
Move forward many months. These same people, who I love as brothers and sisters have moved on and formed a new (and much more inspirational) Group. This new group is very driven. We want to succeed at all the goals we have set. I am still as committed to this Group and its direction today as I was when I stood in the rain and mud with that small group of Patriots. I will be an active part of this Group’s success! I’m excited to see where we will go.
I have said many times that what makes this Group so great is the interaction and bonding that comes from our time together. Those times when I can gather in fellowship with people of similar values and views are what I cherish. Without that time together, this Group would not flourish. Without that time together, I would not be so committed.
At the beginning, our By Laws stated that we are responsible to contribute to our communities. Now, in this new Group, we ARE beginning to be contributors. Right now, we are actively participating in the Toys-For-Tots campaign in our local areas. This is a GREAT first step. Many more avenues are opening up to do more for the towns and cities we all live in.
This new organization requires fuel make these thing happen in a way that does not financially hurt individual members. That fuel comes in the form of dollars. That is also the reason we have decided to form the 501c7. Using the 501c as a vehicle, we can fund all of these activities without burdening anyone personally. In fact, the funding of this organization benefits ALL members at every level. It will allow us to do more and spend more of that quality time together.
We have all heard the talk about donations, raffles and the general focus on getting money into the organization. It could seem to many that our focus has become strictly financial. I would be lying if I did not say that I share in some of that concern. As I stated before, I am in this for the people and what we can accomplish together. So, please let me clarify a few things…
First, we are still exactly who we were the day we all voted to branch out on our own. We are still the same people who want to have each other’s back and aid our communities. We are still the Group that wants to be self sustaining and self sufficient. That will not and cannot change. It is our common tie.
Second, we ARE pushing to get over a threshold. Much of our near future is holding on us completing the application process for the non-profit. Because of this, it is very easy to get distracted by all the talk of money, money, money. This will pass very soon. We are simply in a stage where ‘heavy lifting’ is required. Do not allow all of this to dilute your commitment to our true purpose.
Finally, it has been stated many times that NO ONE will be getting rich in this endeavor. There is no personal gain for ANYONE individually in this process. We are simply building the machine that will allow us to be that self sufficient Patriot Group that we all said we wanted to be.
Some of us are able to help out with a few bucks toward the cause. Some of us are not. The truth is, the more people who do chip in, the less the burden becomes on us all. That is why we have asked EVERYONE to share the information about our raffle with your friends and family. Anyone who donates on the website can win, and the more people who enter, the closer we are to beating down the threshold we need to meet. It is a tough time of year for having ‘extra’ cash, so if nothing else, please get the message out about the Group’s raffle.
As for me, I remain completely devoted to all of you! I remain completely devoted to the Group we have become. I consider it a pleasure to share my time with every one of you and look forward to the day I can stand across from you and shake your hand. I am very proud to call myself a United Heartland Defender.
For my Brothers and Sisters,
